God is breaking the yoke!

A little while ago, my husband Kenya and I got a major breakthrough. There was something we had been praying about for about a year. Well, God finally released our harvest and we were overjoyed and ecstatic about it. Even though we waited for a sustained period and we wanted to see manifestation happen right away, when it didn’t, we continued to trust God’s plan. We rested in His promises and refused to stop believing that what He said would happen.

The enemy did come after us hard and heavy during that season. He tried to delay, devastate and outright deny us of what we were entitled to. It was a journey and a roller coaster ride, but I wouldn't quit trusting.

Throughout that process, I refused to get anxious, worried or stressed out. I remembered what God had done in the past and believed Him to come through again. If I know anything, I know that His power is enough to tear down any stronghold and destroy every yoke.

I don’t know what you may be facing. There may be a disturbing set of circumstances you're confronting and the enemy may be on the rampage. But God's power is greater than what's coming against you right now. This opposition is merely God's opportunity to show off His power.

The Lord will come through for you, just as He did for Samson, one of the greatest Judges of Israel. In Judges 14, we see that God allowed this Israelite to fall in love with and marry a Philistine woman—an intermarriage that would have typically been forbidden. But according to verse 4, the Lord used Samson’s affection for one of the Philistines, notorious enemies of God, to confront them, as they were ruling over Israel at that time.

Though Samson was imperfect and he broke his Nazirite vow not to drink alcohol, cut his hair or touch a dead body, God’s hand was still on his life. God favored Samson anyway and used this Hebrew for His glory. The Lord worked through Samson to get vengeance on the Philistines.

Here’s one of the ways God accomplished this.

A dispute arose after Samson’s wedding, when his father gave his wife away to the Philistines. This caused Samson, whose anger burned hot within, to burn up the Philistines’ grain, vineyards and olive groves. So the Philistines made a retaliatory move of their own, killing Samson’s Philistine wife and father-in-law through arson. They got retribution by burning the ones Samson cared about to death.

It was an all-out battle!

After this happened, the Bible says Samson went and lived in a cave. But the Philistines sought him out and convinced Samson’s fellow Israelites to bind him up and deliver him over to them. So they bound Samson with two new ropes as the Philistines came toward him shouting.

But Judges 15:14 says, “The Spirit of the Lord came powerfully upon him” and gave Samson strength to break the ropes as if they were burnt strands of thread. Then, Samson saw a jawbone of a donkey, grabbed it and killed 1,000 men with it.

Because the power of God rested on Samson’s life, no ropes could hold him. The enemy could not bind him. His adversary could not trap and defeat him. The opposite of what the Philistines expected to happen happened. The hunters became the hunted. The predators became the prey. The conquerors were conquered. One man operating by the power of God was stronger than 1000 men operating without it.

In verse 16, Samson said, “With a donkey’s jawbone, I have made donkeys of them.” This herculean Israelite Judge, with the help of God, made his enemies look foolish. They were no match for Samson, not because of his great strength, but because of the great power of God at work in Samson’s life.

Friend, that same power rests on you. The enemy would love nothing more than to bind you up, trap you and defeat you, but God won’t let it happen. You are breaking free. The strongholds your adversary hoped would keep you tied up forever won’t have that effect. By the authority of Jesus Christ every stronghold designed to hinder your destiny is broken. Like the ropes that bound Samson’s wrists, the ropes that have bound you are falling off.

God is breaking the yoke of bondage. It has to release you and let you go. God is destroying the yoke of disease; the yoke of debt; the yoke of sin. He’s destroying it right now and commanding you to be free. You are liberated by His love and grace over your life. No matter your history, what mistakes you’ve made, or how unlikely it is for you to be free. God has declared it over your life and it shall happen.

You have called on the name of the Lord in your time of trouble and He is answering you. He is lifting you up.

To remind you of this truth, I’m stirring Psalm 118:5 ESV into your cup of inspiration, which says, “Out of my distress I called on the Lord; the Lord answered me and set me free.”

As you drink down the contents of your cup, the anointing of the Holy Spirit is liberating you. Receive your deliverance, breakthrough, healing, increase and that harvest that’s been stored up just for you. There is nothing the enemy can do to stop it because the power of God is greater than any force that comes against you.

Now let’s pray.

God, I have been bound and shackled long enough. Today, I rebuke every yoke of bondage that has attached itself to me to keep me from moving forward and laying hold of my destiny. Thank You for deliverance and breakthrough in every area. I declare Your word that says whom the Son sets free is free indeed. I praise You for liberating me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

As always, thanks for reading and until next time... may today's cup of inspiration uplift, encourage, and empower you!
