Your Daily Cup Of Inspiration

Get out of your boat

See this content in the original post

It was an epic failure Daily Cup family. I got on The Giant Wheel, a 165-foot-tall Ferris wheel, at Darien Lake last weekend. I thought I would be brave since this was my third time riding. Plus, our family visits the same amusement park every year. I should have been over my fear.

But nope. I was even more nervous about riding this time. In fact, you can watch my total meltdown on my most recent vlog. The video is at the bottom of this post. I joked on the video that I need “a deliverance service” to get over my jitters.

Needless to say, I don’t enjoy being up high. I never have. Even looking up at tall buildings makes my head spin. I feel like I’m going to pass out. It’s an awful and crazy feeling I get. But still, I try not to let it control me. After all, I cannot avoid heights just because they make me feel uncomfortable. If I did that, there is no way I could travel around the world for ministry engagements on planes. If my comfort were the most important thing in my life, I would miss out on lots of awesome stuff and opportunities.

This morning, on my podcast, I was talking about how God pulls you out of your comfort zone in order to bless you in bigger ways. You and I have to step out, sometimes, with our knees shaking, and trust God to get us to the next level.

In this season, go after everything God has for you. Kick fear to the curb. When Satan tries to keep you cornered and fearful, rebuke and resist him. You cannot afford to miss out on what God has for you because you are too scared to walk on water. Be like Peter in Matthew 14:22-33 and get out of the boat.

It was a scary experience for him. The winds were howling. The waves were crashing. It was dark. He likely saw his whole life flash before him. But when Jesus told him to come, Peter did the impossible. He didn’t do it perfectly. At one point his fear began to sink him. Yet, the Lord, who is merciful, grabbed hold of him and didn’t let him drown. God won’t let you drown either.

It’s time to get out of your boat and reach the heights God has for you. It is not His will for you to stay stuck in the same place.  There are miracles He wants to work for you. All you have to do is say yes to faith and no to fear. Say no to your comforter zone and yes to the Comforter and your Helper who is the Holy Spirit according to John 14:26.

Right now, you might be walking through intimidating circumstances. Even if you are, confidently say the words David said in Psalm 23:4 KJV, which is what I’m stirring into your cup of inspiration. He uttered this: “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.”

As you drink down the contents of your cup, instead of being anxious, worried and paralyzed by negative circumstances, push forward. Get out of that boat. Walk on by faith. Keep your eyes focused on the One who has the power to assist you in every area of life. There is nothing too hard for God!

When you place your total confidence in the Lord, you will be an example of the kind of person Psalm 112:7 ESV describes, which says, “He is not afraid of bad news; his heart is firm, trusting in the LORD.”

Now let’s pray.

God, I refuse to give into worry and fear, and let it hold me back. I am getting out of my boat! I will look to You, my source for all things. You have promised to take care of me. I submit to Your wisdom and guidance, and I trust that Your hand of blessing and favor is outstretched over me at all times. Thank You being my all and all. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

As always, thanks for reading and until next time... may today's cup of inspiration uplift, encourage, and empower you!

If you need prayer, don't hesitate to request it. I would be honored to stand in faith with You. I know that prayer works. CLICK HERE to learn how to submit your prayer request.
