Much-needed help is on the way
Our oldest daughter Kyla started her freshman year of college today. She seemed very excited about it—especially because this is an answered prayer for her. Quite some time ago, before she was ready to enter undergraduate school, Kyla began praying and asking God to lead her.
“I want to know where I should go,” she told me, often feeling nervous and a little apprehensive about what the future held. I told her, “Don’t worry. God will take care of you and lead you.”
I prayed with Kyla and trusted that God would provide the wisdom and insight she needed. I was fully confident that He would order her steps in making a final decision. Once the time came for her to go the next level of education, God, who is faithful in all things, made the answer crystal clear. He worked everything out and left no room for doubt. I am seriously grateful for that!
It felt quite exciting over the weekend as my husband Kenya and I went to orientation and learned all about what to expect on Kyla’s new college journey. We kept saying, “I can’t believe we have a child in college!” My, how time flies. We actually shared some of our thoughts and weekend activities on the latest vlog. I’ve posted the video below for you to watch.
Well, while we were on campus touring the facility, we entered a classroom. When I looked up at the clock on the wall, I noticed that it was about 3-4 hours ahead of the actual time. It needed to be reset. And instantly, this sparked a thought. Unlike a man-made clock, which can be off in its timing, God is never off. He’s never too late and never too early. He is always right on time.
As everything fell into place perfectly, I meditated on how impeccable God’s timing is. He knows what we need and when we need it most. This is true in every area of life.
Perhaps you are in a situation where you don’t know exactly what to do or which way to go. You may be feeling weary and worn out, as if you’ll crash and burn if you have to figure out one more thing on your own. This is exactly the way Moses was feeling in Numbers 11:14-15. He had a total meltdown that is recorded in scripture.
He told God, “I cannot carry all these people by myself; the burden is too heavy for me. If this is how you are going to treat me, please go ahead and kill me—if I have found favor in your eyes—and do not let me face my own ruin.”
Wow!
Moses basically told God, this is too much, so please go ahead and kill me God. He was so tired and frustrated that he equated divine favor with sudden death. He just wanted to escape all the stress and difficulty that followed the Israelites’ deliverance from Egyptian slavery.
But God, who is always gracious, didn’t leave Moses to fend for himself. He instructed him to gather 70 elders from among the officials who were already leading Israel. They were to assemble in the Tent of Meeting where God said, “I will take some of the power of the Spirit that is on you and put it on them. They will share the burden of the people with you so that you will not have to carry it alone.”
Just as God said, the spirit of the Lord came upon those men and they began to prophesy and were instrumental in lifting some of the load off of Moses.
Isn’t God good? He knows, understands and cares about our every need. When we feel like we can’t take anymore, God sends aid. Today, He’s giving you this word to inspire you and assure you that much-needed help is on the way. You have been struggling. You have been trying to figure and work some things out on your own. Your back has been up against a wall. You have been crying out for His help.
Don’t worry. He heard you. You aren’t in this by yourself. As overwhelming as it feels, know that He has a mighty plan to bring you relief. If God did it for Moses, He’ll do it for you. God will cause people to bless you. He’ll surround you with favor. He’ll make up for what you lack. He will lift the heavy load and usher you into a season of rest.
God doesn’t expect you to be a superhero. He knows you have limitations. He knows that you feel weak sometimes and you get discouraged by all that’s coming against you, which is why He’s lifting you right now.
If, lately, you have been going through weary days and have been feeling burnt out and depleted, I’ll tell you again, much-needed help is on the way!
To remind you of this truth, I’m stirring Psalm 46:1 NIV into your cup of inspiration, which says, “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.”
As you drink down the contents of your cup, get ready for God to rush in. He’s coming to your defense. He going to fight your battles for you. He’s about to lighten the load, bless your endeavors and show off His all-sufficient grace in your life.
Now let’s pray.
God, I don’t feel strong enough to hold up under the pressure I’m going through. Things have gotten hectic and life isn’t easy, so I’m calling upon You, my present help, strong tower, protection and defense. I’m crying out today, Help me! Your word promises that You are there in the midst of trouble and although it doesn’t always feel like it, I believe You’re working things out for my good. I thank You for it right now. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
As always, thanks for reading and until next time... may today's cup of inspiration uplift, encourage, and empower you!
