The Lord will make a way somehow
When I was younger, there was a song I loved so much by Gospel artist Hezekiah Walker called The Lord will make a way somehow. I used to play it over and over again, and sing along with the lyrics. The song was first released 16 years ago, in 2002, but the message still resonates.
Here is a partial sample of the lyrics:
Like a ship that's tossed and driven, battered by an angry sea.
When the storms of life are raging, and their fury falls on me.
I wonder what I have done, to make this race so hard to run.
Then I say to my soul, soul take courage
The Lord will make a way somehow.
Back then I didn’t have as much life experience as I do now. I was still in my 20s. I hadn’t encountered certain struggles. I didn’t know what it was to go through the kind of intense wilderness seasons I have since endured. So I enjoyed the song’s melody without a deep connection to its meaning. I didn’t truly know what it felt like to be “battered by an angry sea.”
But now I do. And by God’s grace, I am yet able to confidently tell my soul to take courage. Why? Because I know for myself, without any doubt, that the Lord will surely make a way somehow! You have to know that as well.
This morning, the Lord brought back a familiar Bible story to my mind about the widow of Zarephath in 1 Kings 17. It looked like the poor widow was about to run out of food. The Bible says she only had a small amount of flour, a little bit of olive oil and some water to make the last piece of bread for her and her son. They were about to split their paltry rations and prepare to die of starvation. But God sent the Prophet Elijah to this widow’s house.
In verse 14, he told this financially destitute and hopeless woman, “For this is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: ‘The jar of flour will not be used up and the jug of oil will not run dry until the day the Lord sends rain on the land.’”
God kept His promise. That widow had more than enough to sustain her family after she obeyed God’s command to first make a cake for the prophet and give him a glass of water before feeding herself, and her son.
Here’s the good news: Just as God provided for her, the Lord wants you to know He will provide for you. He sees your situation. And no matter what it looks like, your well will not run dry.
Your options will not run out. Your supply will not be depleted. He is yet in the miracle-working business and He’s going to do it in your life. Trust Him for provision. The Lord will make a way somehow.
You might be waiting on physical, spiritual, or emotional healing; financial breakthrough; a new opportunity; a favorable reply; or restoration in some area. Whatever it is you need, God will see to it that those needs are met. He won’t let you go lacking. Dry your tears. Lift your head. Declare His word. Hold on to your belief in His power. You will be cared for and sustained.
To remind you of this truth, I’m stirring Psalm 34:10 NIV into your cup of inspiration, which says, “The lions may grow weak and hungry, but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing.”
As you drink down the contents of your cup, cling to this truth: when you seek God, He will take care of you and make ways out of no way. Know that every good and perfect gift comes from God according to James 1:17 and it is His good pleasure to bless you.
As long as you seek His will and submit to His plan, He will provide. He will lift you up. He will restore your soul. He will replenish what you lack. He will cause things to shift in your favor.
If you are presently waiting for manifestation, keep holding on. Be confident in God. Your breakthrough will show up and it will be so worth the wait.
Look at that negative situation right now and make this faith declaration over it: the Lord will make a way somehow.
It is so.
Believe it.
Let’s pray.
God, I am going through a difficult time, but I believe You will take care of me and provide. So I thank You now for what You’re going to do next. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
