God will make things right

When I was a young girl, the neighborhood kids thought it was funny to sneak up from behind and kick you in the back of the knee.

And whenever the unsuspecting victim’s knee would buckle, the one who performed the successful ambush – along with all their friends – would crumble with laughter.

It was silly horseplay at its finest.

I have been on the receiving end of that kick a time or two, though I never found it at all amusing. That still didn’t stop my peers from doubling over laughing at me until their sides hurt.

Sometimes, trouble behaves a lot like those sneaky neighborhood kids. When you least expect it, challenges creep up and ambush you, making your knees buckle.

Israel was metaphorically kicked behind the knee when the Amalekites, a nomadic tribe, snuck up from behind and attacked them. When the Israelites were weak and tired, their cowardly opponents targeted the most vulnerable stragglers – the elderly, women, and children (Deuteronomy 25:17-29).

But God vindicated the Israelites through King Saul in 1 Samuel 15 and caused the Amalekites to pay for their cowardly and unethical tactics.

The thing I love about God is that He never forgets us and always shows up on our behalf. There are some things you have been through, my friend. You have suffered injustices, betrayals, and pain you did not deserve. Know that God remembers and will make things right in His timing.

Your testimony will be, “The Lord has brought about our vindication” (Jeremiah 51:10). Just keep on living.

Keep on trusting. Keep on going. God will right the wrongs and reward your faithfulness in due season.

God, thank You for assuring me that when I endure injustices and pain, You are faithful to compensate and vindicate me. I trust You completely, and I know You will make things right according to Your will. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
