God is consistent
The girls and I cheered when my husband Kenya walked into the kitchen the other day, not just because we were happy to see him but because of what he brought in with him.
He was carrying toilet tissue, and we could not have been happier!
“I went to five stores before I was able to get this,” he said.
Kenya told us, when he arrived at the final store, a supply truck was just pulling up, and he prayed that they would have tissue. Thank God for prayer and perfect timing! Kenya got his hands on the much-needed Scott® brand rolls for our family.
Before the COVID-19 pandemic rocked our nation and led to the emptying of store shelves everywhere, no one in our household cheered when Kenya brought home tissue. Stores had an abundant supply, so buying tissue was an ordinary and routine occurrence. But rapidly spreading sickness and panic in Erie County where my family resides has changed everything.
Currently there are 47 diagnosed cases of Coronavirus in our county, and those numbers are increasing fast. These days, in Western New York, finding and purchasing things like cases of water, food items and other basic necessities seems nearly miraculous.
By the way, I’d love to know how you and your family are getting along. Know that my team and I are praying for you, and we are doing all we can through our 501c3 nonprofit organization, Empowering Everyday Women Ministries, to support those dealing with food insecurity and lack of resources right now. Also, thank you for continuing to donate and helping us be a blessing. You can learn more about our specific efforts here.
These are inconvenient times to be sure, and many are suffering physically, financially and emotionally. Everywhere we turn, there is more bad news. Nevertheless, we serve a good God who yet takes care of His people. We all may be going through changes to some degree, but even though seasons change, God remains the same in every season.
He is yet faithful. He is still a way-maker, doctor, provider and promise-keeper. Hebrews 13:8 says, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.”
In uncertain times, you can trust the certainty of God’s word. In the midst of negative life circumstances—even situations that are confusing, unprecedented and intimidating—the Lord remains sovereign, good, and always in control. In changing times, He is and will forever be consistent.
Now, let’s pray.
God, in uncertain and difficult seasons, I know You are the same faithful, loving, consistent, trustworthy Father You have always been. Whenever doubt, discouragement, worry and fear try to overtake me, I will cling to Your word and remember Your faithfulness to always take care of me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
