Boatloads of blessings

When our family first bought and moved into the house we currently live in, our children were much younger, and their rooms and closets had ample space. As they have grown over the years and amassed more things, however, their room sizes and closet spaces don’t seem too roomy anymore. Periodically, they have had to clear out things to make space.

Over time, it isn’t unusual for items to collect in our homes, making things feel more cluttered. If we hold on to keepsakes, clothing, mail, books or other treasured possessions, it’s easy to wind up with loads of stuff, useful or not. I think we can agree that the gradual accumulation of things is normal. On the other hand, receiving a sudden, miraculous windfall is anything but normal.

Take Luke 5 for instance. Jesus told Simon to let down his net into deep waters to catch some fish. Though Simon and his fellow fishermen had not caught anything all night and were frustrated, at the command of Jesus, Simon lowered his net and tried again. That single act of obedience in the midst of frustrating times yielded a major harvest. Scripture says, Simon and his crew caught so many fish, the nets began to break. They had to call on partners to assist them, and the boats began sinking. They literally had boatloads of fish. And Jesus, who was God wrapped in flesh, showed off His deity and power over nature that day.

Friend, this same Jesus is alive in you. His power is active, and He is able to give you boatloads of blessings too! Not the kind of blessings that accumulate gradually but the kind that manifest suddenly. I like to call these “net-breaking” blessings.

Your dry season is about to be replaced by a harvest season. You’re going to reap unexpected blessings that you don’t have room to receive. God is blessing you this way to fully equip you with what you need to do His will!
— Dianna Hobbs

I know we have often heard, “Make room for God to bless you.” But there are some blessings that you’ll never have enough room for, that you can’t prepare for, and that you didn’t even pray for, yet God will send them your way. Often, these type blessings overtake you after you have endured a period of frustration and unfruitfulness like the disciples did. These net-breaking blessings show up after you feel like giving up but decide to keep pressing forward anyhow.

Boatloads of blessings are reserved for those who trust in God enough to stay in the water and let down their faith net at His command. The faithful and obedient position themselves to reap a harvest, whatever the harvest may be.

Perhaps you have been going through a stagnant season but have refused to give up on your faith. If that’s you, let me encourage you to anticipate boatloads of blessings and favor. Believe that God is going to overwhelm you with goodness, wisdom, resources, opportunities and all you need to carry out His will. Know that He will bless you with so much, you’ll have plenty left over to share with others.

2 Corinthians 9:8 CEV, which is what I’m stirring into your cup of inspiration, says, “God can bless you with everything you need, and you will always have more than enough to do all kinds of good things for others.”

As you drink down the contents of your cup, no matter how long your dry season has lasted, keep on expecting your breakthrough. Open your heart and mind to receive boatloads of blessings that will empower you to do the will of God and carry out the purpose for which you were created.

Now, let’s pray.
