God will help you reach your goal
One day, I was in a hurry. I had an event to attend, and my schedule was tight. As I rushed downstairs, I realized I didn’t have my keys in my hand. So I bolted back up the stairs in search of my keys to no avail. I looked everywhere I thought I might have left them but came up empty and soon ran out of ideas about where they could be.
What I didn’t mention is that I was on the program at this event and needed to be on time. Yikes, right? By the time I found my keys, I was super late. However, I was still able to fulfill my obligation. Thank God, the event planner was understanding, and it all worked out in the end.
By the way, my keys had fallen under the bed.
A prophet in 2 Kings 6:1-6 faced a setback after something he needed fell, but it wasn’t his keys. While he was cutting down a tree with an axe, the axe-head fell into the water and sank. To make matters worse, it was a borrowed axe, and since iron does not float, there was no way he could retrieve it.
Just to give a little context, during this time, Elisha had risen to become the leading prophet of his day, and there was a group of prophets that moved in together to sit under Elisha’s teaching. As their numbers grew, they outgrew their living quarters and needed to expand. After coming up with a plan to build something bigger, the time came to execute the plan. So they all went down to the Jordan River to cut down trees to create a wood supply for the building project.
This is where the unfortunate axe-head incident happened. The unnamed prophet who lost his axe-head while doing something beneficial, necessary, and ministry-related, needed help and went to Elisha. Once he revealed the details of how he lost the axe-head, Elisha asked him, “Where did it fall?”
When he showed Elisha the place, Elisha cut off a piece of wood, threw it into the water, and made the axe-head float. Elisha then told the prophet, “Pick it up.” So he did, and he miraculously recovered what he lost.
Clearly, this was a miracle! God supernaturally gave this prophet something that was out of his reach, and guess what? The Lord will do the same for you.
When something is out of reach, it is beyond your capacity to attain or achieve it. I’m sure that there are things you want and need that seem out of reach and unattainable for you. On your own, you don’t have the power to reach that goal. You don’t have what it takes to reach the heights you believe you are destined to reach. You likely don’t know how to reach beyond your limitations, but God’s power makes the unreachable reachable, the unattainable attainable, the inaccessible accessible, and the impossible possible.
When you are anointed, called, and destined to do something, God will flex His power for you. As long as you remain in alignment with His will, He will see to it that you are able to grab hold of everything He has for you. So trust the Lord. His power and reach is unlimited and with Him on your side, you can confidently expect to gain access to all the blessings He has stored up for you.
To remind you that nothing is out of God’s reach, I’m stirring Isaiah 59:1 NIV into your cup of inspiration, which says, “Surely the arm of the LORD is not too short to save, nor his ear too dull to hear.”
As you drink down the contents of your cup, remember, as long as the Lord’s arm is outstretched toward you, and His ear is attuned to your cry for help, you have nothing to worry about. He won’t let you sink, and He will give you whatever is necessary to complete the work He has called you to do. You will reach every goal and milestone He has predestined for you!
Now, let’s pray.
God, sometimes I feel discouraged because my divine destiny seems out of reach. Thank You for assuring me that I will possess and achieve all You have ordained, because Your power is at work on my behalf, making the impossible possible. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
