You can't see it, but God is working!

I was reading about planet Earth today and how it is in constant rotation. Earth moves at about 1,040 miles per hour. But we can’t feel this movement happening, because we’re in constant motion too.

How is that even possible?

Well, it’s like when you’re in an airplane going super-fast. When there is no turbulence and you’re flying at a constant altitude, you don’t feel like you’re actually moving at all. You can unfasten your seatbelt, walk around in the aisles and not stumble over. You actually have to look out of those small airplane windows and see the clouds in the sky to detect the plane’s motion. I’ve done that, and it’s pretty cool.

As I read about the earth’s daily rotation, I thought about God. He created the earth, and He causes it to complete its full rotation every 23 hours and 56 minutes – without us feeling it. And just like our planet is always moving whether we feel it or not, God is always moving and working whether we feel Him or not.

Feelings are not good detectors of what’s actually happening now and neither are they good predictors of what will happen in the future. Only God knows what He is doing and what He will do. By faith, we trust that He is moving by His power and working in our lives.

In this context, I read the story about the impotent man at the Pool of Bethesda who was healed by Jesus Christ in John 5. When he was made whole by Christ’s miraculous power and told to pick up his bed and walk, he obeyed. But then, a controversy arose from this miracle, because Jesus healed this man on the Sabbath, and Jews noted that it was unlawful for someone to carry their bed on the Sabbath day – a day of no work, just rest.

In defense of the healed man who was being targeted and criticized for breaking the law by the disgruntled Pharisees, Sadducees and Scribes (the religious Jewish leaders of the day), Jesus said in John 15:17, “My Father is always at his work to this very day, and I too am working.”

I love this particular verse, because it reminds us that God is never not at work, right? He doesn’t require a special day or a particular moment to do what He plans to do. He is always, constantly, every minute and second of every day, working in your favor.

The hand of God is outstretched, and He’s commanding blessings, releasing miracles, sending favor, and turning things around for you.

And although this miracle in today’s featured Bible story was highly visible and public, there are times when the work of God is invisible and unnoticeable. There are seasons when the Lord is working behind the scenes and doing things that are impossible to detect in the natural. He has to open our eyes and show us what He’s up to in the spirit in order for us to see and know that He’s moving and working for us. And so, sometimes, God reveals Himself through prophecies, dreams, visions and supernatural revelations.

For instance, in 2 Kings 6:8-22 when the King of Aram was waging war against Israel and wanted to capture Elisha the Prophet, he sent horses and chariots to surround Dothan where Elisha was staying. When Elisha’s servant saw that they were surrounded, the servant panicked.

But in verse16, Elisha told him not to be afraid because, “Those who are with us are more than those who are with them.”

Then, in verse 17 Elisha prayed to God on behalf of his servant and said, “Open his eyes, Lord, so that he may see.” And the Lord opened the servant’s eyes, and he saw that the hills were full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.

Awesome, right?  Now, even before God opened the servant’s eyes, the Heavenly reinforcements were already in place. Supernatural backup, despite being undetectable to the servant, was very real and very present all the while. And that’s what I want to relay to you through this devotion. God is very real and very present in your circumstances.

You may not see Him working, and you might not feel Him working, but He is. So don’t panic when you see trouble all around you. Don’t fret when things look bad. The invisible hand of God is outstretched, and He’s commanding blessings, releasing miracles, sending favor, and turning things around for you.

To remind you of this truth, I’m stirring John 13:7 NIV into your cup of inspiration, which says, “Jesus replied, ‘You do not realize now what I am doing, but later you will.’”

As you drink down the contents of your cup, though you may not see it now, very soon, God will reveal what He’s been up to all along. And I can guarantee you one thing: It’s good.

Now, let’s pray.

God, what I see in the natural often appears negative and discouraging, so help me not to focus on what my eyes observe, but rather what Your spirit reveals. By Your spirit and through Your word, I see by faith that greater is on the way for me. And I thank You for it. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

If you desire prayer, please allow me, along with my intercessory prayer team, to stand in faith with you for breakthrough. We would be so honored. We have seen God work over and over again. There is power in agreement. Click here to request prayer now.
