Nothing can stop God!
After waking up with neck aches for the past week or so, I finally broke down and got a new pillow yesterday. My old one is pretty flat and not offering much support anymore.
Since my hubby Kenya was out grabbing a few things from the store last evening, he went on ahead and threw a new pillow for me into his shopping cart. Typically, I get the extra firm pillow, but he purchased the firm pillow instead.
Bummer.
When I laid down, my face melted into it, but my neck still didn’t feel quite supported. It was way too soft for me. Kenya, unlike me, prefers his pillow slightly softer. I need extra firm. I’ve got to have it. So we’re going to let Kenya use that one for himself. We’ll grab an extra firm pillow for me next time around.
Whenever my pillow doesn’t have the right amount of support, I feel it in my neck first thing in the morning and it’s so uncomfortable.
We all need to be supported—not just in the pillow department—but in every area of life. Aren’t you glad you’ve got a divine support system in place? Aren’t you grateful that the Lord is your present help and refuge? Jesus offers you His hand of help even when others leave you alone. He is a constant companion, friend and strong tower.
In John 5, Jesus offered a man some support. Unfortunately, the Savior’s act of kindness was met with disdain. You see, Jesus went against the rules Jewish leaders set up and enforced.
Remember the man at the Pool of Bethesda in John 5? To very briefly recap, the infirmed man told the Master he didn’t have any support or help. There was no one to assist him in getting his miracle. So he had been there, in that condition, languishing for nearly four decades. Jesus healed him after 38 years of misery. In an instant, everything changed. This man obeyed Christ’s command to pick up his mat and walk. It was an instantaneous healing!
This should have been cause for celebration, but among Jewish authorities, this was upsetting. The miracle performed on the Sabbath caused controversy. Pharisees, Sadducees and Scribes, who determined what did or didn’t constitute work, made it clear that carrying a mat on the Sabbath was against the rules.
But Jesus didn’t care about that! He came to buck against the Jews’ religious system. He purposely opposed legalism and traditions that undermined the word and work of God.
Bethesda means “House of Mercy,” and Jesus showed mercy when, in the face of rigid laws, He extended grace. The Jews persecuted Jesus because of this. But I love what the Master said in response to them trying to restrict the days He could perform miracles.
According to John 15:17, “In his defense Jesus said to them, ‘My Father is always at his work to this very day, and I too am working.’”
This gets me excited.
Jesus basically told these naysayers, God is always working and I am too. No one can stop Me!
Friend, no one and nothing can stop God from blessing you. He’s working at this very moment, turning your situation around. God doesn’t take days off. He never falls asleep on the job. He’s always up to something good on your behalf. He still specializes in extending grace and mercy. The Lord is moving around the clock in your favor, securing victory at every turn.
So don’t be weary or discouraged. You might be in a hard place right now. Like in the case of the man at the pool of Bethesda, you may have been in this condition for a long time. Nevertheless, the passage of time is not a barrier to breakthrough. Nothing can stop God from blessing you. It is not too late for Him to show up. It hasn’t been so long that He can’t fix it. The deficit isn’t so great that He can’t provide for your needs.
According to Isaiah 59:1 NIV, which is what I’m stirring into your cup of inspiration, “Surely the arm of the LORD is not too short to save, nor his ear too dull to hear.”
As you drink down the contents of your cup, you will be reminded that there are no barriers to your breakthrough. As long as you walk by faith and remain yielded to God, nothing can stop you from receiving all He has for you.
God, the all-sufficient One, has already commanded a blessing over your life and it shall manifest. He has spoken a word over you and it shall come to pass. He has decreed and declared your breakthrough and it will show up.
Put your confidence in the Lord and see what happens!
Spoiler alert: breakthrough will surely come.
Now let’s pray.
God, thank You for reminding me that nothing can hinder Your work. I celebrate the fact that I am victorious through You and You will fulfill every divine promise. I expect breakthrough and supernatural release because You are all-powerful and faithful to do just what You said. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
As always, thanks for reading and until next time... may today's cup of inspiration uplift, encourage, and empower you!
