Be willing to embrace the new

A few years ago, my oldest son Kedar joined a Little League football team. Just days before the season began, two of the best players left the team. The loss of these dominant athletes deeply impacted the coaches and players. No one knew how the team would adapt.

Everyone was surprised when the first game was a huge success. The team won convincingly, and it was a major triumph. The next game, the team won again. And again, and again, and again. The final game was a nail-biter, but Kedar and his teammates were victorious, and they remained undefeated the whole season!

Our family has often reminisced with Kedar – who turned out to be an exceptional defensive player by the way – about those exciting days of winning football games. We have also reflected time and again on one of the powerful lessons we each learned through that experience:  Just because you lose something or someone does not mean you are defeated.

Even though losses are difficult to deal with, especially when the person, opportunity or thing you lost was a big part of your life, you have to remember that God is with you. The loss is not a surprise to Him. It does not derail His plans for you. He will still complete His good work in your life.

That loss will not define you. God is saying, ‘There is more in store for you. Just trust Me. I’m up to something good.’
— Dianna Hobbs

In Joshua 1:5, after Moses, Joshua’s mentor, passed away, God said to Joshua, “No one will be able to stand against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you.”

God basically told Joshua, you will be undefeated, because I am with you. And that’s the message for you today. I don’t know who or what you may have lost, but I do know that God will still bless you, win victories for you, and see to it that you reach your land of promise, just as the Israelites did under the leadership of Joshua.

Whether your loss is the result of death or divorce, termination of a job or significant partnership, change in financial or health status, or a shift in the world that is beyond your control, God is still in control. His track record is still impeccable, and He remains undefeated, so you will be undefeated.

Friend, this brief word of encouragement is God’s way of letting you know that when one season ends, a new season begins. It’s not over. But, in order to move forward into your promise, you must be willing to release the old, and embrace the new. Make room in your heart and mind for what’s coming next. Don’t convince yourself that your best years are behind you, when your best days are actually ahead of you. God wants to do more, different, new and better things for and through you.

To lift your spirits and keep you encouraged, I’m stirring a portion of what God said in Joshua 1:5 into your cup of inspiration: God said, “…I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you.”

As you drink down the contents of your cup, know that you are not alone. God is there. And wherever God is, there is peace, joy, freedom, blessings, favor, and all you need to seize your destiny and step into your Promised Land.

Now, let’s pray.

God, losses hurt. They make me feel unsure about the future and unstable. But thank You for reminding me that You are my stability, and You are holding my hand and guiding me. And if I lose everything else, as long as I have You, I have more than what I need to thrive, overcome, and possess every promise You have made to me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

If you desire prayer, please allow me, along with my intercessory prayer team, to stand in faith with you for breakthrough. We would be so honored. We have seen God work over and over again. There is power in agreement. Click here to request prayer now.
