Just show up!

I often see parallels to Scripture everywhere I look. And you know who else is like that? My son Kaleb. I call him “my little preacher.” He’s 15 years old, and he and I love talking about Scriptures and sermons together. I thank God, by the way, that he has a heart for the Lord and His word. Amen?

So, recently, Kaleb came in my room, Daily Cup family, and told me he was studying the biblical story of Jehoshaphat—one of Israel’s most beloved and righteous kings. (2 Chronicles 17-21)

“That’s a good one to study!” I told him.

And one of Kaleb’s favorite parts of Jehoshaphat’s story is in chapter 20. Here we find an intimidating coalition of enemy forces waging war against Jehoshaphat and Judah. And just as anyone would be, the Israelites were terrified. So, God sent a prophetic word through Jahaziel, son of Zechariah.

He said, “Do not be afraid nor dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours, but God’s” (v. 15).

Then God uttered these words through Jahaziel: “You will not need to fight in this battle. Position yourselves, stand still and see the salvation of the Lord, who is with you, O Judah and Jerusalem! Do not fear or be dismayed; tomorrow go out against them, for the Lord is with you” (v. 17).

The very next day, God’s promise came to pass. Jehoshaphat and Judah didn’t need to lift a finger against their enemies. All they did was worship and praise, and God defeated their adversaries.

During Kaleb’s conversation with me, he said, “It would be so cool if someone talked about this Bible story and titled the sermon, ‘Just Show Up.’”

I agreed with him… and here we are. I believe God used Kaleb to plant that seed in me so I could tell somebody facing a battle, you don’t even have to fight, my friend. The battle is the Lord’s. Just show up, and He’ll show out!

If the enemy’s been waging war against you, your family, your finances, your health, your relationships, your ministry, your business, your job, your mind, your emotions, or your destiny in general, God is sending you the word that He spoke through Jahaziel: “Stand still and see the salvation of the Lord!”

God is going to do this thing. All you have to do is show up, and watch God show out for you. Somebody needs to get ready!

Today, my friend, God is using the very words He sent to Judah, His chosen people, all those years ago to encourage you, the one who is also chosen by God. He wants you to know you have no need to fight, for the battle is not yours, but God’s. The power is not yours, but God’s. Victory belongs to Jesus. So long as you don’t give up and you keep showing up, God will keep showing up, too.  In other words, if you don’t faint, you will reap a harvest, according to Galatians 6:9.

Even in the time of trouble, Psalm 46:1 says, “God is a present help.” Even when the enemy tries to overwhelm you with opposition and stress, Isaiah 59:19 says, “When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD shall lift up a standard against him.” Psalm 91:2 says, “I will say of the LORD, ‘He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.’”

What will you say of the Lord?

I will say of the Lord that He is a healer. That He is a way-maker. That He is a heart-fixer and a mind-regulator. That He is joy in sorrow. That He is a bridge over troubled waters. That He is the one who puts you back together after you have been broken. That He has all power in His hand. That He still works miracles. And that He always shows up in response to faith.

When opposition comes in like a flood, God always sends in a flood of favor. He always causes us to triumph. All you’ve got to do is continue showing up. Showing up in prayer. Showing up in praise. Showing up in worship. And God will show up in your circumstances.

No matter the conditions or the struggles, even when it looks like you won’t win, God will show Himself strong on your behalf.

Somebody is about to receive your miracle and reap a harvest because you believe God no matter what. He’s going to give you the kind of harvest that you don’t even have enough room to receive. God has seen the way you’ve been showing up, and the Lord is about to stage an intervention in your situation.

There’s a reward on the way. Something good is about to happen to you and for you.

To remind you of this truth, I’m stirring the first portion of 2 Chronicles 16:9 CSB into your cup of inspiration, which says, “For the eyes of the LORD roam throughout the earth to show himself strong for those who are wholeheartedly devoted to him.”

As you drink down the contents of cup, expect God to show Himself strong for you. He’s going to show up in your favor!

Now let’s pray.

God, thank You for assuring me that good things are on the horizon, and You are about to show up for me in a big way. In Jesus’ name, I praise You for it now. Amen.

If you desire prayer, please allow me, along with my intercessory prayer team, to stand in faith with you for breakthrough. We would be so honored. We have seen God work over and over again. There is power in agreement. Click here to request prayer now.

As always, thanks for reading and until next time... may today's cup of inspiration uplift, encourage, and empower you!
