You will rise again!
My intercessory team received a panicked prayer request from a woman who had discovered a lump in her breast.
“I’m trying not to be, but I’m terrified!” she said, as her mammogram was set for the following week.
“I can’t sleep at night. I can’t eat. I’m just so stressed out about it, and I don’t want to be,” she explained. “I want my test results to come back showing nothing is wrong, but more than that, I need peace in my mind. I feel like I’m going crazy!”
She desperately desired that peace Philippians 4:7 speaks of, that transcends all human understanding. Fast forward a bit, and her results were negative for cancer. Praise God! She was fine.
Just scared.
Her situation and outcome sent my mind racing back to 2012. Just months after my mother finished her breast cancer treatment and was given a clean bill of health, I discovered a hard, painless lump in my left breast. Because of my family history, the doctor was extra cautious and set me up for a mammogram right away. The radiologist’s films showed what appeared to be early stage Ductal Carcinoma—one of the most common forms of breast cancer.
I was sent to a breast specialist in our city to confirm the results.
On the day of my appointment, I sat in the cold office, mindlessly flipping through one of the women’s health magazines in the small exam room. Time felt like it was crawling. But I’d already made up my mind that, whatever the outcome, I would trust the Lord to bring me through it.
“This trial will not defeat you. This is only a test. The low place you’re in cannot hold you down. God is lifting you up. You will rise again! ”
Finally, I got the news.
“You can relax. It’s not cancer,” the doctor told me with a comforting smile.
Remembering that moment that gave me special empathy for the woman gripped by fear. I know how uncomfortable uncertainty is. It can be downright frightening and unsettling, especially when things look as bad as they did for the Shunammite woman in 2 Kings 4:8-37.
I have talked about her here before, and I feel led to share about her again.
Her only son, whose birth was prophesied by Elisha, fell suddenly ill and died. Most of us would have panicked; but she didn’t. She sought out the prophet of God with full assurance that the Lord was able to revive her son.
In verse 23, when the woman’s husband asked why she was looking for the man of God on that particular day, she simply said, “It is well.”
In other words, she told her spouse, everything is alright. Her statement was prophetic. God indeed used Elisha to resurrect the boy from the dead. Her posture of faith paid off in a big way.
And today, I’ve come to let you know that
In fact, somebody reading this has been going through a dead, dry season. Is that somebody you? If so, this is a message for you sent straight from Heaven. Even though there seems to be no hope, life, vitality, or fruitfulness left, things are about to turn around for you.
You see, God specializes in resurrecting dead things. You will get on your feet again. You will see increase again. You will be healthy and whole again. You will love again. You will see God’s hand of blessing moving in your circumstances again.
If life has knocked you down and your head is hanging low, prepare to get up. Prophesy over yourself like the Shunammite woman did and say, everything is alright. God has a plan to pull you out of this grave of defeat, discouragement and struggle!
To remind you of this truth, I’m stirring a portion of Psalm 30:3 GWT into your cup of inspiration, which says, “O LORD, you brought me up from the grave. You called me back to life …”
As you drink down the contents of your cup, God is calling you back to life. He’s pulling you out of your grave and setting you free. He’s restoring your faith and confidence.
You will rise again. Expect some good news; it’s on the way. You will see better outcomes in 2019.
Get ready for it.
Now let’s pray.
God, thank You for reminding me that this situation is not too hard for you to fix. Just as you raised Lazarus from the dead, You are resurrecting some dead areas in my life. I praise You now for reversing what man says is irreversible. I declare by faith that You are doing the impossible for me. It’s already done, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
