God is giving you supernatural strength

Fresh spinach is one of my favorite things to eat. It’s so good. I enjoy sautéing it in a little olive oil with salt and pepper—and sometimes onions and mushrooms if I’m feeling fancy. I first started liking spinach as a little girl, thanks to the cartoon Popeye the Sailor.

The main character Popeye would gain superhuman strength after eating a can of spinach. Since I wanted to be strong like him, spinach became my favorite veggie. Come to think of it, Popeye also smoked a pipe. Thankfully, that didn’t appeal to me as much.

Even though I outgrew my love of Popeye, my love of spinach has endured. Too bad the superhuman strength doesn’t come with my beloved spinach, although it is packed with beneficial vitamins, minerals, and nutrients.

When I need superhuman strength, I don’t get it from vegetables. I need to go to the Lord for that. He is able to instantly make me strong, no matter how weak I feel. Whenever I need a reminder of this, I love reading the story about Jesus’ miraculous healing of Peter’s mother-in-law that I recently talked about on my podcast.

In Mark 1:29-31, when Jesus was in Capernaum, a small fishing village along the Sea of Galilee, He went to Peter’s house, a well-known site of many miracles, signs, and wonders. Jesus stayed there and operated His ministry from there too.

When Jesus was told that the unnamed, bed-ridden woman was sick with a fever—a condition that could be deadly in the ancient world—He entered her room. According to verse 31, Jesus took her by the hand and lifted her up, and immediately the fever left her. After that touch from Jesus, she got up and was no longer weak and feverish. Jesus strengthened her. At once, she began serving those who lived in the household. The Lord healed and restored her so thoroughly, she went right back to work!

God is going to strengthen, restore, and make you whole, and there will be absolutely no trace of what had you bound before. He’s about to do it completely!

That is what supernatural strength looks like, and that is what God is yet able to do. You might be physically weakened by sickness, emotionally weakened by tragedy, mentally weakened by stress, or spiritually weakened by the enemy’s attacks. Whatever the case, God is sending a word to assure you that He is your strength. You might feel down temporarily, but He will lift you up by His power.

I remember when I was weak during my hospital stay back in the summer. After that mini stroke and all those seizures, I didn’t have enough strength to lift my head or my left arm and leg. Things got so bad at one point, my whole body was limp, and family members told me I was unresponsive. Nurses had to help me do everything. But then, Jesus stepped into my room and immediately changed everything. He snatched me out of my bed of affliction, and He reminded me that He is God, and for Him, nothing is too hard.

If you need strength, healing, comfort, joy, peace, breakthrough, or some sort of supernatural shift, the same power that worked in my life will work in your life too. God is your strength when you get weary. He is your healer when you get sick. He is your sustainer when you’re overwhelmed. He is everything you need.

What are you going through? How do you need God to manifest Himself in your circumstances? He will do it. There is no problem too big. There is no mountain too high. There is no challenge too great. There is no obstacle too imposing. There is no attack too strong. There is no affliction too severe. And there is no power that is greater than God’s.

Trust the One who is capable of beating the odds, breaking through barriers, and snatching you out of a low place. The attack may be intense, and your strength may be depleted, but God who is strong and mighty cannot be defeated.

Expect to break through. Expect to be victorious. Expect this test to become a testimony. Expect to rise above this storm, and see the great power and majesty of our God displayed in your situation. Right now, if you are in need of strength, I’m stirring a reminder into your cup of inspiration, and it is found in Isaiah 40:29 NIV, which says, “He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.”

As you drink down the contents of your cup, know that God is with you, in you, and for you. Whatever has come against you, it cannot conquer you. As you wait for God to deliver you totally, trust Him to be your strength and your rock in the meantime. He will never leave you nor forsake you.

Through this word, I believe that God is making you aware that He is supernaturally making you strong and lifting you up.

Now, let’s pray.
